Game Ideas/Updates

ORIGINAL IDEA:
My game is currently set in medieval times. Characters can use magic, swords, axes, etc.

Environments will mostly be ruins, temples, forests and a town for the player to get quests and side quests.

Player can access shops in which they can buy health/mana potions, weapons and outfits.

The player can explore their environments or go straight into the story and ignore small details all together. So, simply put, its a Sandbox game.

UPDATE:
Okay, I changed my idea from being set in medieval times to being set in a modern yet futuristic city. Environments include the city, like Brooklyn, New York. Pretty much anything that's in America.

The Player is still stuck in a sandbox environment and can still access shops to buy things they may need.

Guns are the main weapons, so the player must stock up on ammo. Swords, blades, daggers (pretty much in the same category) are also used and the main character can use abilities such as pulse to push back enemies.

Player can choose to upgrade weapons and/or abilities in anyway they wish. So pretty much Fable 2 without the upgrades.

UPDATE:
In the first level, instead of the gameplay being in 3rd person view, it will be in first person. This may or may not change in the future, depending on how construction progresses. So far the player will still need to find a keycard, in the offices or on an enemy.

UPDATE:
The level will now be played in first person view. The player may be able to knock out the enemies with already set eqiupment. How the elevator doors will work has yet to be decided.

The controls for the Xbox controller is pretty much the standard setup for most FPS (First Person Shooter) games. I switched a few things around, for example the reload button. I wanted the player to be able to access there inventory and character info easily. The decided to put the qiuckslots button as the arrow keys, because that seems to the best place to put them.

The keyboard controls have not been altered to my desire, I have kept them as the standard setup as most keyboard controls for FPS.

Game Interactions

In this level of the game, the players goal is to find and assassinate Timothy Gold. This character can be found in the upper levels, for the player to reach him, he must first find a key card to access the elevator to the upper floor and also to access the control room in which to activate the elevator. The key card as said in previous posts, can either be found in the four main offices (not including where the player starts), cubicles or a guard. Once the player has the key card, they must then use it to enter the control room and pull the switch to activate the elevator. Once this is done the player can then go in the elevator and take it to the top floor. Ending the mission.

3 interactions in this level are:

1: Opening and Closing doors.
The player will be able to open and close doors to access different rooms throughout the level. Opening and closing doors can help the character hide from guards if they choose to play the level stealthy.

2: Searching an Enemy.
Searching a dead enemies body is also an important interaction. The player will need to search a fallen enemies body to search for the key card they need to advance in the level.

3: Swiping the key card.

The player will need to access there inventory first to search for the right key card, as they may have picked up several others throughout gameplay. Once equipped the player can then swipe the key card to use access the upper levels.

Game Back Story

My game is set in a modern yet futuristic Brooklyn, where Assassins and Bounty Hunters get hired to kill or get information. The story revolves around Adrian Rogue, a Bounty Hunter that is known to be hired for killings.

One day Adrian accepts a job where he must capture a man alive, but because of his brutal ways he kills the man (by 'accident') and returns the body back to his client. Though he was told that the client wanted the man for cheating him in a bank robbery. Adrian senses that there is more to his clients story than was told to him.

On the other side, a woman is recruited to join the White Maidens group. The White Maidens are a group of professional female Assassins. They do their jobs more discreetly than hired Bounty Hunters. So discreetly in fact, that no evidence is left behind when there is a break in, or a murder.

Things get a little heated up when Adrian and the White Maidens group clash and just as expected, there was more to Adrians first mission than he had been told.

Game Concept

The game is an Open World RPG where the player controls the main character, and is able to upgrade this character throughout the game.

The player can choose to fight with either guns, blades, magic, or combine all three as a combo. As the player goes through the game, he will be able to unlock different weapons and magic.

Missions and side missions can be taken when the player is in free roam mode, which becomes available when they have finished a mission they are currently doing or during (depending on what type of mission it is).

A player can buy new guns and blades (or upgrade their current ones) at the stores available on the map, this also goes for clothing. When it comes to clothing, clothing and armor are combined, so for example, you may want to buy gloves and those gloves may have metal plating on them for a bit of extra damage (or just to look stylish).

In short this game is a combination of Prototype/Assassins Creed (with a bit of fable).

Office Design

These are just a few images of my Level during construction.


One of the four offices located in the top-right corner, connected to the cubicle room.


The cubicle room, which is located in the centre of the level.


Main room, contains six cubicles and will connect to four offices and elevator control room.


Elevator controls are to the far right, four offices are connected to the top and bottom of the main room (Two on each side). The characters starting position is to the top-left room. Elevator is in the hallway connected below the characters starting point.

Characters

Name: Adrian Rogue. (Main character)

Title: The Shadow Bounty.

Age: 27.

Personality:
Adrian has become a cold and silent person ever since he lost both his parents at the age of four. He shows very little compassion or emotion at all and he cares not for others suffering and says what he thinks regardless of of how it may make others feel.

Fighting Style: Guns, blades, magic, he uses them all.

Favourite Weapon: Blades.

Home: Here and there, no where in particular. Currently living at the underground apartments.

Favourite saying: "Why should I try and communicate to filth that would openly sacrifice my life or anyone elses to save their own?"



Name:
Rose Valkiria.

Title: Rose Maiden.

Age: 25.

Personality: Rose has truly mastered the split personality. When not on a mission, Rose is a happy and care-free girl who has a thirst to prove herself to others, mostly her family. But, whenever on a mission, she is cold and ruthless. Killing anyone that stands in her way, yet she shows mercy to those she thinks worthy of having a second chance.

Fighting Style: Blades and Pistols.

Favourite Weapon: Grenade Launcher.

Home: White Maidens Enclave.

Favourite saying: "I will get stronger, and when I do. I'll show all who doubted me."


Name: Norten Del.

Title:
The Deceitful Shade.

Age: 38.

Personality: Norten is the strong silent type. He seems calm, cool and collected but he has a past not one for the faint hearted. Even though he doesn't say much, he still has a sense of humor.

Fighting Style:
Twin blades with a shotgun.

Favourite Weapon: Franchi Spas-12 shotgun.

Home:
Unknown.

Favourite Saying: "Its a good pass time, not to mention its fun." followed with a chuckle.
